Reasons for Testing
Clear Answers. Faster Care.
MARAbio™ offers a breakthrough test that helps families and providers diagnose a specific immune related subtype of autism, called MAR-Autism, in a current or future child — enabling informed family planning choices and earlier intervention to improve outcomes.
Research has shown that certain maternal autoantibodies, like those included in the MAR-Autism Test, are linked to an increased likelihood of more significant autism symptoms in children.1
Important Note: The MAR-Autism™ test is not validated for use during pregnancy.
The Process
How the MAR-Autism Test works:
Request your test.
Ask your healthcare provider or use our telehealth
provider to begin
Complete a blood draw.
Once approved, your provider or MARAbio will help coordinate your blood test (done on the mother, no blood is needed from the child)
Get your results.
Your provider will receive your results and help guide your next steps
Empowering providers and families with early insight into autism likelihood
With a specificity as high as 97%, meaning false positives are rare, the MAR-Autism Test helps providers diagnose children with the maternal autoantibody subtype of autism, enabling earlier referrals, targeted interventions, and more effective triage from long diagnostic waitlists.
Knowing this before pregnancy gives you valuable insight for family planning and allows you to prepare for early support if needed.
For the mother with a symptomatic child:
Guide decisions around early therapeutic engagement, even prior to formal diagnosis
Prompt earlier referral for diagnostic evaluation and developmental intervention
Provide clinically actionable information to help siblings receive the earliest diagnostic evaluation
Identify the likely biological cause for autism, if test is positive
For the mother with a diagnosed child:
Results may support family planning discussions for future children
May help high-likelihood siblings move up on diagnostic waitlists
Guide decisions around early therapeutic engagement, even prior to formal diagnosis of subsequent children
Identify the likely biological cause for autism, if test is positive
Autism Likelihood Test
A blood test administered to the mother that identifies a biological cause for autism.
MARA Detection
Identifies a prospective mother’s likelihood of having a child with a prevalent subtype of autism called MAR-Autism.
Pre-Symptom Support
May help parents and healthcare providers determine appropriate early support for a child even prior to symptoms suggestive of autism.
Informed Family Planning
Can guide families and healthcare providers in choices about care and future pregnancies.
